Prior Day-Break Club Communications:
05-14-20: As a result of several inquiries by both our Day-Break Club caregivers and volunteers alike, I wanted to reach out once again and hopefully address concerns that some of you may have. Unfortunately, there is no further clarity as to when we might resume Day-Break Club activities.
To our Day-Break Club caregivers, while I understand that some of you would welcome an earlier resumption than others, I want to be clear that our strong bias is to offer a safe and secure environment for all, free of virus infection fears.
To our volunteers, rest assure that your safety is also of the utmost importance to us. I do know that some within our volunteer community have compromised immune systems. We would never place any of you in jeopardy.
In making a decision to consider a resumption of Day-break Club activities, we will only rely upon scientific recommendations and “detailed” CDC guidelines when they are finally released. In all likelihood, this decision may lag behind Recreation Center “phased” openings.
Looking forward to the day when we can all be together again, but until then, an abundance of caution is necessary. We will continue to review circumstances as appropriate going forward.
Please maintain social distancing and stay safe!

04-30-20: I have seen the Phase One Florida reopening guidelines but do not feel we are near the point when we consider a resumption of Day-break Club activities. Despite what the governor thinks or says, it is up to us individually to determine what we believe to be prudent for ourselves and our loved ones.
Just as we exercised caution early on in suspending our club activities, we will exercise the same caution when considering when to re-open. When that will be, we cannot say at this point. We will continue to monitor the situation during the upcoming weeks and as always, I welcome your input.

03-08-20. Day-Break Meetings have been suspended until further notice in response to the current health crisis. We have embraced the notion of "Social Distancing" and we have chosen to protect those of us who are in the most vulnerable age group.
We will communicate to our membership both by email and this website when meetings will resume.
The following communication was sent to our membership on 03-12-20:
I have decided that in the best interest for all concerned, we will suspend Day-Break Meetings until further notice; choosing to err on the side of caution during these uncertain times.
We should all embrace the concept of “Social Distancing”, keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe as we await more positive news regarding the Covid-19 virus within our Florida communities. This is not an over-reaction but a sensible response recognizing the frailties of those within our age group.
Whether you are a Day-Break caregiver or a volunteer, please know that we will contact you by email as soon as meetings will resume. For those caregivers without email, I will be contacting them by phone by Sunday 03-13-20. I would also ask our staff volunteer coordinators to arrange calls to volunteers who also may not have email.
